I. Job Summary
HVAC Mechanic will communicate back and forth with Marken Mechanical’s staff to assist with problem resolution of emergency services with our active clients and resolves service issues. Interacts with clients that includes emergency services, preventative maintenance, service work, and repair. Shifts vary with the potential for overtime.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Ability to Maintain Cooling Towers, Maintain Boilers, Perform Trouble-shooting on Various Commercial Systems and Use Integrated System for Reporting Issues.
- Ability to Log Temperatures, Check Refrigerant Levels, Change Belts and Motors, Establish Control Settings
- Ability to estimate and perform take off’s on project a plus
- On Call Duty for Off Hour Calls (Rotated Within Staff)
- Must Be Clean and Friendly with the Ability to Trouble Shoot Items Quickly
- Must Be Able to Report Items
- Must Be an Open Minded Person That Gives Input and Ideas
- Must Be a Self-starter Who Is Trustworthy and Reliable
- Computer Literate a Plus
- Ability to mesh well in our 16-year-old Company with PM Contracts and Service Contracts
- Troubleshoot and Maintain Systems Including: Boilers, Large Roof Top Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Large and Small Commercial Package Units, VAV Systems, and Control Systems.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
- You will most likely have a young apprenticeship with you helping and learning throughout some days.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education/Experience
- Completion of a State or Federally recognized (minimum four-year) apprenticeship in the HVAC trade; and, possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Experience: 5 or more years of relevant work experience
- Journeyman desired
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Level: Journeyman
- Experience working on boilers, chillers, steam pipe, tenant improvements, commercial air handler units, water source heat pumps, etc.
- EPA Universal Certification, section 608 Clean Air Act.
- 5 Year or more years of progressively responsible related Commercial Field Experience in HVAC trade.
- Excellent troubleshooting knowledge
- Able to independently perform maintenance and service
- Title 24 testing a plus
- Willing to perform installation, when required
- Possess and maintain a license to operate a Class: C motor vehicle in the state of California with a Clean Driving record
- Drug Free
- Team Player
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- HVAC/R principles, concepts and theories.
- Utilities, distribution systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Construction drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications a plus.
- Familiar with physical and electrical hazards involved with HVAC/R systems troubleshooting a plus.
- Fingerprinting and complete background check required of final candidate.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via e-mail, telephone, and 2 way devices
- Must have the desire and ability to learn Marken Mechanical’s processes
